of the round-ball code,former Knights, NSW and Australiancentre Matt Gidley has retainedbragging rights over youngerbrother Kurt.A one-time NSW junior schoolboysoccer teammate of HarryKewell and Mark Viduka, Matttopped the inaugural Herald tipsterspoll for the 2006-07A-League season.Kurt claimed some of thecredit for that victory, filling inoccasionally after Matt left earlylast year to link with EnglishSuper League giants St Helens.In Matt's absence, Kurt tookover on a full-time tipping basis forthe recently completed A-Leagueregular season but had to settle fora four-way share of third behindjoint winners David Lowe andRenee Valentine.While in Newcastle visiting familyand friends for Christmas, Mattset the record straight on Kurt'sinvolvement in his success.'I had an impeccable one andonly season,' Matt boasted.'He'd be doing well to knock meoff my mantel there.
